This sermon series explores the powerful message of the Book of Malachi, written about a century after Israel’s return from exile. Though the temple had been rebuilt and hopes were high for God’s promises to be fulfilled, the people quickly fell back into patterns of corruption, injustice, and spiritual apathy. Malachi confronts this disillusionment through a series of six striking disputes between God and Israel, exposing the unchanged hearts of the people and calling them—and us—back to faithfulness. Through it all, God’s promise shines: a messenger will come, and with him, justice, restoration, and hope.
