The apostle John wrote 1 John at the end of his life. He was a close friend and confident of Jesus and leader in the early church. This man saw that the church was being threatened by a number of false teachings. He wrote this letter to confront them head on theologically and practically. His goal is that he would ground his readers so that they could accurately display Christ’s love to those around them.
