Bible Text: Habakkuk 2:20 | Preacher: Brad Vos | Series: Habakkuk: Trusting god when you don’t understand

Many times the events in our world seldom make sense. We watch the news or the events in our own personal lives and we wonder, “Where is God in all of this?” Sometimes, we have to admit that it seems like God is silent or unconcerned about our lives.

The prophet, Habakkuk, lived in a time period near the end of ancient Israel’s history when he saw God’s people suffer while the wicked prospered. It caused him to wonder and to doubt. Habakkuk asked God some hard questions – questions we may often want to ask as well, but either don’t dare or don’t have the words.

Why do the wicked prosper?
Why do the righteous suffer?
What is God’s relationship to evil?
How should we live when life doesn’t go as we expected?

God answers Habakkuk’s questions. In his response, He reminds us that Christians are called to live by faith and not by sight. God reminds us that we can to trust him even when we don’t understand.
